Duo Encordé

Duo Encordé is a classical guitar duo based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Formed by Michele Reali from Italy and Eva Victoria Schockmel from Luxembourg, the duo met in 2022 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of Gabriel Bianco. They started playing together ever since discovering their mutual interest and curiosity for the guitar duo repertoire as well as their strong desire to share it with wider audiences.

The name ‘Duo Encordé’ is inspired by the French verb ‘s’encorder’ which alludes to the action of securing oneself and one’s partner to the same rope in mountaineering, symbolising unity and reliability. It also encapsulates the French noun ‘cordes’, meaning strings, thus referring to their instrument. In this joint adventure, Michele and Eva Victoria take you on a journey through the world of the classical guitar.

Their diverse repertoire covers the impressionistic atmosphere of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, the romantic elegance of Felix Mendelssohn, as well as the Spanish flair of Joaquín Rodrigo. Moreover, the duo is profoundly committed to the research of new repertoire, creating their own arrangements of pieces by important composers such as Claude Debussy, Manuel de Falla and Maurice Ravel.

Duo Encordé has performed in various concert venues in Amsterdam, including Het Concertgebouw, the Concertgemaal, the Embassy of the Free Mind and the Luther Museum.

Their most recent award includes the 3rd Prize at the 14th Martinez Guitar Duo Competition at the 33rd International Guitar Festival in Iserlohn 2025 (DE).
