Pulsar Quartet

Created in 2024, Pulsar Quartet consists of four international guitarists: Kelly Johannes, Bárbara Macedo, Matthijs van Delft and Eva Victoria Schockmel.

The name of the quartet reflects their ambition as musicians, since a pulsar is a celestial object that emits rhythmic and powerful bursts of energy, similar to the energy they want to share with their audience. Interestingly, it is a word that remains the same in all languages of the members of the quartet, reflecting their unity as an ensemble. Furthermore, the term ‘pulsar’ is a Spanish verb that can be translated as ‘to pluck’, which is a reference to their instrument. “Pulsar”, composed by Vincent Lindsey-Clark, is also the title of the first piece the quartet played together, marking the beginning of their collaboration.

The Pulsar Quartet is regularly invited to play concerts across the Netherlands, such as Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Muziekgebouw in Eindhoven.
